Rethinking shopping experience for a fashion e-commerce startup

Grape a fashion startup is revolutionizing the shopping experience through social curation. The founder approached us with a novel shopping concept and challenge to rethink the conventional online shopping experience.

Making a novel concept - Curations

With our initial concepts, We identified users are finding it difficult to understand this novel concept as they have never experience curated shopping before. Once they understood what we are doing, they get super excited and do multiple curations.

To make it easier for users, we took many cues from existing ecommerce experiences and made the app familiar while retaining the curation experience. This helped in increase in user engagement and new user activation.

Window Shopping

Many only window shop or they return products after they shop, this impacts the business.

Shopping Experience

The shopping experience in most platforms currently has been following amazon majorly or flipkart per se, Grape would like to redefine this experience.

Time Consuming

Its time consuming for users to shop their wishlist from various platforms, since most customers don’t really know what their wants and needs are, its up to use to educate them using innovative methods.

Analysis Paralysis

Customers add to their wishlist ending up confused what exactly they want to shop.

Need for Social Proof

As humans we want to make the best decision and always get opinions. This became an essential factor in online shopping enabling users to buy with confidence. Based on our user research, Users are inclined to check the products that other people are vouching for.

We designed various social features such as Hot & Trending product, Number of people viewed it, People who like it etc..

These features instantly increased the engagement with product and curation cards.

Shop and get Inspiration

Users are highly engaging with the app creating 100s of curations every day but most of it was getting lost as the new content is generated and at the same time users are finding it difficult to find a product. So we designed the experience to balance out both shopping and inspiration.

Shopping experience is focused on finding the products through familiar ecommerce experience while enabling users to find related curations to see different product outfit ideas. While inspiration drive the user based on different themes and finding relevant products and outfits.
